Yes, it’s safe when used as intended—and no, it won’t explode. The body is double-wall stainless steel and the sliding lid is vented (not airtight). “Explosion” stories come from pressure build-up in sealed containers (hot steam, shaken carbonation, dry ice, or fermenting drinks). Ours isn’t a pressure vessel.
Double-wall vacuum insulation keeps beverages hot/cold for hours (varies by conditions).
Avoid freezing liquids inside. Water expands when it freezes and can stress gaskets and the vacuum seal. If you chill the empty tumbler, let it come back toward room temp before filling with very hot drinks (avoid thermal shock).

The sliding lid helps prevent spills during normal use; it isn’t fully leak-proof if inverted.
